On a working chromebook of the same model that you need to recover do the following:
    - Insert a USB drive in the chromebook
    - Type ''[[chrome://imageburner|chrome://imageburner]]'' in the address bar
    - Run the tool and follow the instructions that appear on your screen
===== On Linux =====
    - Click this link to download the Recovery Tool: https://dl.google.com/dl/edgedl/chromeos/recovery/linux_recovery.sh
    - Modify the script permissions to allow execution with the following command: ''sudo chmod 755 linux_recovery.sh''
    - Run the script with root privileges with the following command: ''sudo bash linux_recovery.sh''
    - Follow the prompts from the tool to complete building the operating system image.
===== Chromebook Recovery ======

  - Go to [[https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1080595]] or
  - Download [[https://dl.google.com/dl/chromeos/recovery/chromeosimagecreatorV2.exe|ChromeOS Image Creator]]
  - Start ChromeOS Image Creator
  - Enter the model number that is on the **screen of the failed chromebook**

===== Reboot Chromebook to "!" =====
  * Press **ESC** + **Refresh ke**y + **POWER**. The screen displays a yellow exclamation point (!).
